Categories and definitions of industrial connectors


There is no unified classification standard for connectors so far. New application fields are constantly appearing, and the structure is becoming increasingly diversified. It is difficult to use a fixed pattern to classify and name. Nevertheless, some basic classification principles are still valid, let's first understand the prerequisites for connector classification.

1. According to the functions of the internal and external connections of electronic devices, the interconnection levels are divided into 6 levels:
The first layer: the interconnection of components to the package;

The third layer: board-to-board interconnection;
The fourth layer: component-to-component interconnection;

According to the above division, the coaxial connector belongs to the circular connector, and the printed circuit connector belongs to the rectangular connector (historically, the printed circuit connector is indeed separated from the rectangular connector). The current popular rectangular connector has a trapezoidal cross-section, which is approximately rectangular.
